How to use the LinkedIn post pain point signal for research interviews
Last updated 5 November 2026
Finding participants for research interviews is easier when you track the LinkedIn post pain point signal with HeyLead.
What the post pain point signal is
HeyLead is an AI agent for LinkedIn outreach: it finds the right people, writes to them in the voice of your own LinkedIn posts, follows up, and handles replies. It runs from Claude Code, Cursor, any MCP client or a web dashboard.
A post pain point signal appears when a person writes about a specific problem on LinkedIn. This shows they have first-hand experience with the issue. HeyLead watches 40+ signal types, scored, matched to your ICP and expiring. A strong signal starts outreach and the opener says why now.
The fit question HeyLead asks is whether this audience is who you need to hear from. You want to reach people to interview, survey or test with.
Why this signal matters for research interviews
People who post about a problem are ideal candidates for research interviews. They already care about the topic. You can reach out to interview, survey or test with them.
HeyLead offers 6 campaign goals. These include selling a product or service, finding a job, hiring people, finding partners or investors, finding a vendor, and research interviews.
Hire people, find partners or investors and research interviews work with a custom brief. Campaigns with the research interviews goal work with a custom brief where you say what you ask of the person.
What to write to the participant
Your message is for the participant. The angle is simple. Someone who posted a problem has first-hand experience of it. You acknowledge their post about the problem. You ask for a short conversation about it. You include no pitch.
HeyLead reads your own LinkedIn posts to learn your voice and never posts unless you ask for a post. Before an invitation, HeyLead warms up. It performs a profile view, a follow, and a comment on a recent post.
An invitation includes a note and an opening message. You get up to 2 follow-ups on Free and 5 on Pro. The system includes InMail and email fallback.
How to handle replies and follow-ups
Replies are read, classified and answered from the campaign's facts. A reply that could mean 2 things gets 1 short question back. A question your facts cannot answer is held for you. A "not now" response gets a check-in in 30 days.
Opening messages, follow-ups and answers to replies wait for your approval until you switch to autopilot. Invitations, not-now check-ins and meeting nudges are not held.
HeyLead syncs with HubSpot. It books meetings into Google Calendar.
The brief to type into HeyLead
You type a 1 sentence brief in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or the HeyLead dashboard. 1 sentence creates a draft campaign. You review it and press Launch. Nothing is sent until you press Launch.
HeyLead works in Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and claude.ai, any MCP client and a web dashboard. It works in ChatGPT as a custom MCP app. This is tested on ChatGPT Pro. Custom apps depend on your ChatGPT plan and settings.
It runs from the cloud with your laptop closed. The client's source is on GitHub under MIT. The hosted backend is not. Free costs $0 for 1 connected account with 2 follow-ups. Pro costs $29 a month per connected account.
create_campaign goal='research' brief='Reach out to founders who posted about hiring struggles to ask for a research interview.'

HeyLead sends from your own LinkedIn account at a human pace: at most 20 invitations a day and 100 a week on a free LinkedIn account (more on Premium or Sales Navigator: a newly connected paid account starts at 20 a day and doubles each week up to its limit), Monday to Friday 08:00 to 22:00 in your time zone, minutes apart. It backs off when LinkedIn pushes back and resumes on its own. You can pause any campaign at any time.
HeyLead is not affiliated with LinkedIn. It reaches LinkedIn through Unipile, which is also not affiliated. LinkedIn's own rules are in the Terms.
