Linkedin lead generation consulting
Last updated 17 October 2026
When you run LinkedIn lead generation for consulting firms, HeyLead helps you reach the right buyers. This guide covers the buyers, the signals to watch, and the brief to use.
What it is and who buys
Consulting firms sell expertise. In small and mid-size firms, the managing partner sells, staffs the work, and buys the tools. Chief strategy officers hire consultants and judge them by how clearly they state the problem. Agency owners run a services business under the same pressure. They must keep the bench busy and the work coming in.
HeyLead is an AI agent for LinkedIn outreach: it finds the right people, writes to them in the voice of your own LinkedIn posts, follows up, and handles replies. It runs from Claude Code, Cursor, any MCP client or a web dashboard.
Why it matters and what signals to watch
Timing matters when you approach a consulting firm. HeyLead watches 40+ signal types, scored, matched to your ICP and expiring. A strong signal starts outreach and the opener says why now.
- Watch for a new practice area or office. A new practice needs its first clients. Ask which kind of client they want first.
- Watch for a partner or senior hire. Senior hires come with targets. Ask what the new partner is expected to build.
- Watch for a post sharing a client outcome. Name the outcome they shared and ask how they found that client.
- Watch for a promotion to partner or principal. A new partner now owns a number. Congratulate them and ask how they plan to fill their calendar.
What to write and what to leave out
Buyers in consulting use specific words. They talk about utilisation, the bench, an engagement, a statement of work, referrals, proposals, and repeat clients. Use these terms when you write your message.
Leave out long notes. Partners read between meetings. Do not treat a partner like a buyer of software. They buy outcomes for clients. Do not ask for a call before you have named a client problem.
Some targets are not a fit. Exclude solo freelancers billing by the hour. Skip firms whose work comes entirely from 1 framework agreement.
The brief to type into HeyLead
You type a 1-sentence brief in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or the HeyLead dashboard. HeyLead drafts the campaign. You review it and press Launch. Nothing is sent before.
Set the industry to consulting. Exclude advertising. Set seniority to owner, cxo, and director. Set company size to 11-50, 51-200, and 201-500 employees.
There are 6 campaign goals. You can sell a product or service, find a job, hire people, find partners or investors, find a vendor, or research interviews. Hire people, find partners or investors and research interviews work with a custom brief.
How the campaign runs
Before an invitation, HeyLead warms up. It does a profile view, a follow, and a comment on a recent post. An invitation includes a note, an opening message, up to 2 follow-ups on Free and 5 on Pro, with InMail and email fallback.
Replies are read, classified and answered from the campaign's facts. Anything ambiguous is held for you. A not-now reply gets a check-in in 30 days.
Opening messages, follow-ups and answers to replies wait for your approval until you switch to autopilot. Invitations, not-now check-ins and meeting nudges are not held.
It runs from the cloud with your laptop closed. It reads your own LinkedIn posts to learn your voice and never posts unless you ask for a post.
