# How to reach CIOs on LinkedIn

Last updated 16 October 2026

When you plan how to reach CIOs on LinkedIn, HeyLead helps you connect with the right IT leaders. Chief Information Officers care about system reliability and cost control. You need to address these priorities at every stage of your outreach.

## What CIOs care about at each stage

CIOs measure success by uptime, change failure rate, integration time, and IT spend. Your outreach must speak to these metrics at every stage.

During the connect stage, you should mention triggers like an ERP/CRM change, a cloud migration, or a security initiative. In the discovery stage, focus on their pains. These include system reliability and integration overhead.

When you reach the objection stage, address concerns about security compliance and cost control. In the close stage, show how your product improves their core metrics like IT spend and change failure rate.

## What HeyLead's own outreach shows

**LinkedIn invitations accepted: C-level and all invitations**

| Seniority | Invited | Accepted | Replied |
| --- | ---: | ---: | ---: |
| C-level | 204 | 26% | 17% |
| All invitations | 777 | 29% | 20% |

Source: HeyLead's own outreach, the invitations HeyLead sent from its own team's workspaces, 10 March 2026 to 17 September 2026, each at least 30 days old, read 17 October 2026. Each person is counted once. Accepted means the person accepted the invitation; replied is a share of those who accepted. Seniority is read from the person's job title. Rows with fewer than 30 people are not shown. Nobody is named.

## How HeyLead automates your outreach

HeyLead is an AI agent for LinkedIn outreach: it finds the right people, writes to them in the voice of your own LinkedIn posts, follows up, and handles replies. It runs from Claude Code, Cursor, any MCP client or a web dashboard.

HeyLead watches 40+ signal types, scored, matched to your ICP and expiring. A strong signal starts outreach and the opener says why now. It looks for profile cues like a security or architecture update. It also finds company cues like an ERP/CRM transformation or a security posture program.

Before an invitation, HeyLead warms up. It does a profile view, a follow, and a comment on a recent post.

## The brief to type into HeyLead

You type a one-sentence brief in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or the HeyLead dashboard. HeyLead drafts the campaign. You review it and press Launch. Nothing is sent before.

1. Open your preferred client or the HeyLead dashboard.
2. Type the brief to set your campaign goal and persona.
3. Review the drafted campaign.
4. Press Launch to start the outreach.

## Campaign goals and roles

This brief sets your campaign goal to sell a product or service. It targets the CIO persona. It also looks for specific roles. These roles include the economic buyer, champion, influencer, and user. You can also target none of these roles.

HeyLead supports six campaign goals. These are sell a product or service, find a job, hire people, find partners or investors, find a vendor, and research interviews. Hire people, find partners or investors and research interviews work with a custom brief.

```
create_campaign goal='sell' persona='CIO' roles=['economic_buyer', 'champion', 'influencer', 'user']
```

## Managing replies and follow-ups

HeyLead includes an invitation with a note and an opening message. It provides up to 2 follow-ups on Free and 5 on Pro. It also uses InMail and email fallback.

Replies are read, classified and answered from the campaign's facts. Anything ambiguous is held for you. A "not now" reply gets a check-in in 30 days.

Opening messages, follow-ups and answers to replies wait for your approval until you switch to autopilot. Invitations, not-now check-ins and meeting nudges are not held. HeyLead syncs with HubSpot. It books meetings into Google Calendar.
